Enjoy amazing geology and biodiversity on the top of the Madonie Mountains with this 4 ½ hours hiking day trip from Madonie Explorers.
Hike to Pizzo Carbonara (1979m), the highest peak of the Madonie Park. Climb to the peak and explore the exceptionally rich geology and biodiversity along the way.
You will walk through surprising landscapes shaped by the action of water on the limestone rock, with numerous sea fossils hidden in the stones, and rare plants and butterflies in every direction.
Madonie Explorers’ experienced nature guide will help you discover and understand fascinating details about this unique natural landscape. While you plan your trip, you might also like to consider our Madonie Hike to Piano Pomo’s Giant Hollies and our much longer 3-day Trek in the Madonie Natural Park.
When you reach Pizzo Carbonara, you will be rewarded with a fantastic 360-degree panoramic view. On clear days, you will be able to see along the Tyrrhenian coast as far as Palermo and an extensive portion of Sicily’s hinterland.
You will meet your guide in Piano Battaglia (Province of Palermo) at 9:30 am. If you aren’t sure where this is, don’t worry, as you will be provided with a map indicating the meeting point when you book. You can always contact us to ask for more information. Each guest will then reach the starting point of the trail in their own vehicle. We do not drive you there.
Note: In the event of bad or dangerous weather conditions, the excursion may be cancelled.
