With this itinerary that mixes nature hike and urban walk, we offer you an original and active way of visiting Cefalù, far from the classical cultural tour. Of course, we will go to the main places and we will talk about Cefalù’s rich history, and you will find out how nature actually influenced the destiny of this former fishermen village.
Our excursion will begin with a hike on the Rocca, this huge rock that dominates the town. It hosts prehistorical remains as well as an ancient defensive structure with crenellated walls among pine trees and a typical Mediterranean vegetation. We will stop to enjoy spectacular views over Cefalù’s roofs, the port and the Tyrrhenian coast. We will also explore the ruins, in particular the so-called Temple of Diane (Tempio di Diana) and search sea fossils in the rocks.
Our feet will then lead us to the small streets of the old Cefalù: here everyday life flows quietly out of the bustle and you will feel the true Sicilian atmosphere. We will also walk along the insolite megalithic walls and stop at the best must-see spots: the Arab-Norman cathedral, Porticciolo (old port), Porta Pescara and the medieval washing-place. If you saw the last Indiana Jones movie, you will recognize some places!
You will meet your guide in Cefalù (Province of Palermo) at 9.00 am. You will be provided with a map indicating the meeting point when you book.
