What’s better than a stroll in the small streets of a village perched on a mountain, a stop at the foot of a centuries-old oak or a chat with locals to capture the real spirit of Sicily? This road tour will make you fall in love with the Madonie, a part of the island which is still little known, extremely rich in nature, picturesque villages and fascinating local traditions.
The tour includes stops in 3 local villages and 3 nature sites. At every stop you will take easy short walks in company with our English-speaking guide to explore ancient ruins, enjoy breathtaking panoramic views and immerse yourself in amazing nature sceneries.
In particular, you will visit a geological site which is a shrine of exceptional biodiversity, stop at places that harbor incredible stories of shepherds and bandits, meet one of the oldest trees of the Madonie and stand in front of a cliff which hosts a couple of golden eagles.
From July to November, you will also have the opportunity to meet some of the last traditional shepherds.
You will meet your guide at 8.30 am at Castelbuono (Province of Palermo).
If you aren’t sure where this is, don’t worry, as you will be provided with a map indicating the meeting point when you book.
Participants need to have their own car as transport during the day is not included.
